Someone Like You - This track is certainly not what we expected as Faye's first solo outing. She always gave the impression that STEPS' music wan't for her, but this is definately a far cry from the rock chick image that she yearns for. She's taken the well trodden route of many a solo newcomer by teaming up with an already well established solo artist, just take the Spice Girls for example, Mel C & Bryan Adams, Victoria Beckham & Dane Bowers the list goes on. Although it's not what we expected and Russell Watson might not be the coolest of blokes to duet with this song really is a goodun' Faye has always been one of the most talented STEPSters as far as vocals go and she really shines on this single. Her vocals really stand out and she fairs well next to a universally recognised opera singers talents. It's a pity that there is no B side of Faye singing a track on her own, in fact the b side 'You Are So Beautiful' doesn't even feature her, it's a solo effort by Watson, this is because the single is being released by his record company Decca. Faye is still yet to sign her own solo deal but we reckon she'll be fighting the record companies off after they hear this. It might take a few listens before you really get into it, but once you do we guarantee that you'll love it.
